Strictly personal opinion here, and I hope I do not insult anyone.. but I thing the above is an ugly pattern and style. It is very mid-century trying to keep a classic sensibility...
but I just don’t like the form or the garish pair of roses.
I have no idea how well this sold, but I can image that a lot of this has ended up in the scrappers melt pots.
Hand chasing added a lot of cost to the silver. By reducing the amount of chasing the silver became more affordable and took on a more modern look. The thought was that younger people would not look upon this silver as they would their grandmothers. I have this #28 1/2 set
The hand chasing on this style (above) and the open space for some reason reminds me of
a French Poodle. I happen to like poodles, so not a problem for me.
