Stieff providing pre-prepared newspaper ads for it’s dealers. These newspaper mats only needed the store name, and in some cases, prices to be added by the local paper or ad agency.

Shown are example mats. Stieff would provide them in the size needed to the retailer or their ad agency.

These ads normally would have been removed from the catalog before showing it to a customer. The original owner of this book seemed to have never removed them... or this was the catalog used by the “buyer” for a chain of stores and was never used for customers. At this point, we will never know.

While not dated, The 1966 Royal Dynasty pattern is shown so our date is going to be 1966 or later.  Some of the ads appear to be out of date to me. Sort of like the Stieff ad agency pulled out examples of past works, with out really reading the language in the ad. One seems 25 years older, and another speaks of a new spoon.... that was a 10 year old design by the time the ad mats were published in the presentation.

Look at the different FONTS that the STIEFF name uses in the various ads. From a “branding” standpoint we would not normally see this must variation today.

The ad to the right with three pieces of Rose is a bit confusing as it says.... “A first choice of brides for nearly half a century...”   In 1967 the company, and also the Rose pattern... were 75 years old, Three Quarters of a Century old.  It also states that six other patterns are made in addition to the floral patterns....but actually 15 were being made in 1966.
