Pewter Ad in the Baltimore Sun

Scanned in two parts

Promoting the Williamsburg Collection in the late 1970’s

This is an institutional ad (to the trade) to promote the pewter business. It is directed at RETAIL stores

(For period pewter pamphlets, please see the pewter section)

Geary’s Beverly Hills

Fall of 1976

This matches a big promotion by Stieff on

silver sets of 32 pieces or more

Promoting the Pewter again.

This piece is what is called a “doughnut” ad. The retailer has everything there, they

just drop in the company name and the prices. I especially like the comment at the bottom

reminding them to have the newspaper to add the prices. Imagine if they didn’t and they ad went

out with prices of $ 00.00 (would that mean free?)

Ad from Oct. 1976

Dancing Surf Introduction

Dancing Surf was also available in a 18/8 Stainless

Steel version called BREAKERS

The “Table Top” industry was rapidly changing in the 1980s. Kirk Stieff opened a New York office and wanted to develop more high end casual

(non sterling) offerings for the Modern Family of the 1980’s.
