The piece is dated March 15, 1979. The price of silver was on the rise... but Stieff was having a sale on flatware. The prices of the next price list.. August 1979 are higher...but reduced due to another sale on silver flatware.

Listed are the patterns that Stieff was making as of March 1979. In the mid-1970’s five of the Stieff patterns were dis-continued. Missing are Forget-Me-Not, Personna, Silver Surf, Diamond Star and Clinton.

Lady Claire was still in the line... and was made using the same blanks as Clinton... so I wonder why that pattern was dropped. It is believed that Clinton was dropped in 1974, it appears in the 1971 price list, but not afterwards. The end date of the other patterns, unknown.

Featured on the back panel, the newest pattern... Smithsonian which had been introduced a year earlier... 1978.
